St. Francis Society Animal Rescue

Adoptions

To adopt a cat or dog from St. Francis, you must first fill out an Adoption Agreement form and submit it to a St. Francis volunteer. The agreement form will be carefully reviewed by a director. Only a director can approve or disapprove an application for adoption. We try to get applications reviewed as quickly as possible. If we have problems contacting your references, this will delay the process. Most disapprovals result either from a negative veterinary reference, a "no pets" policy by landlords, or a difference in philosophy regarding the treatment of animals. St. Francis Society is a privately owned, all volunteer organization. We have strict guidelines for adoption approval and our volunteers have the right to refuse adoption applicants based on their own judgment.

Once an application is approved, the adopter is notified and can arrange to pick up their new pet. There are certain items that you must have before we will release the pet. A volunteer will be happy to assist you with shopping for your new friend before leaving PetsMart. You will also receive a copy of the pets health records and a packet of information put together especially for you and the new pet by one of our volunteers.

Lucky
  • My story: 11.09 Hi I am Lucky. I am a young handsome boy. I was adopted last year. I dont know why my last home didn't work out but my foster family says its for the best. See, my adopters did not do everything they promised St. Francis and they let me get sick. I have heartworms. I hear its completely preventable with a once a month yummy treat I can eat! But, I didn't get the yummy treats. So, now my fosters are going to take me for treatment. It is treatable thankfully! I guess my family didn't have the money to care for me and gave me up. I know its not that I am bad because I was VERY good. You can read my original story below. My foster parents are very devoted to me and will make sure my next home is the best! Hope its you. 11.08 I was rescued by a nice family and am enjoying my 2 Jack Russell house mates. You can see by my big happy face that I am a happy-go-lucky guy. My foster Dad is taking me to this really fun place for some training. He says I am a bright easy student and will make someone a super forever companion. Take the time to meet me! You will find I am quite friendly.
